Adonai Cortez

2nd, Waramaug

Adonai hails from Puebla, Mexico, where he attends Poly Tech Institute majoring in aero science. He looks forward to sharing his passion for basketball and soccer at camp this summer.

Alexander Smith-Bove

12th, Wilderness

Alex lives in Jeffersonville, VT, right at the base of the beautiful Mt. Mansfield, and spends the winter as a supervisor at the Smuggler’s Notch Ski School. This will be his 12th summer on staff and the fifth leading a wilderness trip.

Amy Dakin

8th, Store, Art & Crafts, Tutor

Amy returns to assist with arts & crafts and tutor campers. This summer, she will also help in the camp store. Her three Daughters, Elise, Olivia and Lauren are Songadeewin alumnae. She joins her husband, Robin.

Andrew Cochran

4th, Moosalamoo

Andrew was a camper through the Wilderness trip. He attended the University of Vermont, where he studied environmental science. Andrew has taken a break from college to work on his very promising Disc Golf career. Andrew is on the Moos staff where he will share his knowledge and talents in disc golf, baseball and canoeing. Andrew comes from Baltimore, MD.

Angela Perry

Angela graduated from Vermont State University in May with a BSN in nursing. She is very excited that her first nursing job will be at Keewaydin! Angela is from Rutland, Vermont.

Ann Greenamyre

3rd, Business Manager

Ann joined the Keewaydin Foundation team in 2024, after 28 years at NRG Systems in Hinesburg. When not working, Ann enjoys baking, cross country skiing, jigsaw puzzles and waterskiing. Ann lives on Lake Dunmore with her family, enjoying the beauty of our lake year-round.

Anne Randlett

Anne is back as Director of Nursing. A former Wilderness tripper, she is mom to Charlie and Julia, both Verendrye trippers who returned on staff. In her free time she enjoys gardening, silversmithing and camping with husband, Lee, former Keewaydin Director of Facilities.

Austin Schrantz

3rd, Waramaug

Austin graduated from University of British Columbia this Spring and will be returning to UBC to attend law school in the fall. After missing last summer, he is eager to return to the staff. He looks forward to assisting in archery, riflery and canoeing. Austin grew up in Hong Kong and currently lives in Canada.

This is Bella’s first summer on staff. She is from Houston, Texas, and has just graduated from Northwestern State University with her Nursing Degree. In her free time, she loves to run, crochet, and bake! Bella is thrilled to spend the summer living in nature, embracing her role as a camp nurse and looking forward to every moment of fresh air, adventure, and caring for others.

Ben Jacoff

17th, Annwi Director (1st half)

A former Keewaydin camper, Wilderness tripper, and Annwi staff, Ben is Director of Annwi. Ben teaches 4th grade at the Cathedral School in NYC. He has lived all over the world, but his favorite place to be is still the stern seat of a wood canvas canoe, looking out over the calm waters of Lake Dunmore. Ben will be joined this summer by his wife, Emma, their daughter, Alice, and their son, Eli!

Breck Knauft

10th, Moosalamoo (1st half)

Breck returns for his first summer since 2000! He spent most of his years on staff in Moosalamoo, but also led two Wilderness trips and served as Wiantinaug Director from 1997-2000. He recently stepped down as the Executive Director of the Vermont Youth Conservation Corp and is ready for new adventures, starting with a summer at camp! Breck and his family live in Huntington, VT.

Brennan Smith

Brennan is studying professional pilot technology at Polk State University in Florida. In Waramaug, he will assist with sailing, tennis, hiking and more. Brennan calls Osprey, Florida home.

Brett Viens

6th, Waramaug

Brett grew up in Middlebury, VT and is a graduate of the University of Maine. He was a camper through Moos. He enjoys camp life and leading hikes on Mt. Moosalamoo. He looks forward to assisting in canoeing, land sports and many of the other activities Keewaydin has to offer.

Caleb Blaustein

3rd, Moosalamoo

Caleb is a rising junior at the University of Utah. A camper through the Wilderness Trip, on the Moosalamoo staff he helps with climbing, soccer, disc golf, canoeing and archery. Caleb comes from Lafayette, CO.

Cameron MacDonald

25th, Waramaug Director (1st half), Associate Director of Dunmore

Cameron is currently the Associate Director of Dunmore. He will also be Waramaug Director first month. He will take over as Director of Dunmore in September of 2026. Cameron will be joined by his wife, Erin, and two of the friendliest cats you’ll ever meet, Toulouse and Eloise.

Cannon Moltz

12th, Waramaug (2nd half)

Cannon returns to camp after several summers away. A performing musician (pianist) in Nashville, TN, he has a degree from Belmont University and works at the University School of Nashville in the middle school after-school program. He was a camper in Waramaug and Wiantinaug. In Waramaug, he will lead ultimate, soccer, and disc golf; and help with baseball and canoeing.

Carlos Spigel

13th, Annwi Director (2nd half)

Carlos was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He now lives in Burlington, Vermont and teaches 5th grade math at JFK Elementary in Winooski. He was a camper at Keewaydin through Moos and his favorite Keewaydin pastime is taking a canoe out on the glassy waters of Lake Dunmore for a peaceful morning paddle.

Carrie Coufal

1st, Nurse

Carrie has been a PRN nurse most recently in her hometown of Fremont, Nebraska. She is excited to join the Keewaydin nursing team. Her daughter. Julie, will be a day camper at Songa.

Chris Murphy

9th, Wilderness Staff

Chris is a longtime Keewaydin staffman, who currently lives in Burlington, VT. He is just wrapping up his winter job as a Ski Patroller at Bolton Valley. This will be Chris’ 9th year on staff and his third leading a wilderness trip.

1st, Wiantinaug

Chris is a graduate of the University of Santiago in Chile, where he majored in engineering. He worked as an engineer for four years, but took some time off and is currently living in Dublin, Ireland, where he is studying English. In Wiantinaug, he will assist with tennis, swimming, soccer, hiking and backpacking. Chris comes from Santiago, Chile.

Connor Davey

2nd, Wiantinaug

Connor, a native of Suffolk, England, has been a British Army Cadet leader for many years, where he has learned much about camping. In Wiantinaug he will assist with soccer, archery and backpacking.

Daniel Ruano

3rd, Wiantinaug

Another former camper who joined the staff, Daniel is a junior at Gettysburg College. In Wiantinaug he will assist with kayaking, canoeing, soccer, basketball and more. Daniel is from Mamaroneck, NY.

Darby Jones

1st, General Staff (2nd half)

Darby is an elementary school teacher in the Burlington, VT school district. At camp this summer, she will work primarily in the office and as a tutor. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Darby now calls Burlington, VT home.

Daria Carden

27th, Office Manager

After a lifetime growing up in Vermont and raising a family, Daria and her husband, Joe, now live in York, SC. She returns to camp as the Office Manager, and she continues to be a member of the Foundation’s year-round staff. Her two grown daughters are both Songadeewin alumnae and she hopes that someday Luna Cuomo, daughter of Songadeewin alumna Kelsey Cuomo, her granddaughter, will come to camp.

Diana Toro

5th, Office and Store

Diana will be working in the office and the store. She is the wife of Jorge Sr. and the mother of Ernesto, Gustavo and Jorge. She is an accomplished photographer and enjoys international travel.

Diane Hare

41st, Head of Tutoring, the Dunmore Choir, Jazz Band, and campus tours

Diane runs the tutoring program at camp. She also organizes a camper-staff choral group and jazz band, which enrich Sunday Circles and other occasions with their beautiful music. Diane and her husband (Camp Director, Pete Hare) have three children: James, former camper and member of the Moos staff; Ali, former staff and Songadeewin alumna; and Jenn, Songa alumna and long-term staff and leadership team member at Songadeewin.

Eben just completed his first year at Connecticut College. A talented musician, he will add much with his guitar playing skills. In Annwi, he will also help with baseball, soccer, tennis, climbing, swimming and ultimate. Eben hails from Brooklyn, NY.

Eli returns to camp for his 13th summer on staff. He lives in West Hartford, CT with his wife Annabel and son Benjamin, who will be a camper in Moosalamoo. He works as an elementary school STEM teacher the rest of the year, and really values the opportunity Keewaydin provides him and his son to take a break from technology and reconnect with people and nature.

10th, Camp Photographer and Tutoring

Elise lives in Fairfax, Virginia, where she worked for many years in information technology. She is looking forward to another summer at Keewaydin, where she brings her enthusiasm to camp as the Camp Photographer! Elise loves hiking, reading, and all things nerdy.

Emilio studies engineering in Mexico City. He loves to swim, cook and fix cars. He will work in the kitchen this summer at camp.

Yet another staff who started his Keewaydin career in Annwi and continued through Wilderness, Emmett joins the staff with great Keewaydin experience. He just completed his first year at Wesleyan University where he is studying film. In Waramaug he will assist with riflery, hiking, sailing, canoeing and dramatics. Emmett comes from Brooklyn, NY.

Ezra is just finishing his freshman year at Williams College. A camper through Wilderness, he loves tripping. He will also help with kayaking, sailing, canoeing and hiking. Ezra lives in Wynnewood, PA.

Ezra is a graduate from East Carolina University. Ezra’s camper career saw him complete Moosalamoo and the Verendrye trip. He will join the Wiantinaug staff again and will assist with basketball, dramatics, archery and canoeing. Ezra lives in Harrisburg, NC.

A citizen of Slovenia, Ferjanč is studying finance in his home country. He will join the Wiantinaug staff and help with soccer, basketball, archery and riflery. Ferjanč’s sister, Katra, was on staff at Songa for many summers.

Finn recently completed his senior year at Wesleyan University, where he studied economics and data analytics and played on the varsity lacrosse team. A camper for many summers through Moosalamoo, he joins Wiantinaug where he will help with tennis, canoeing, hiking, sailing and basketball. Finn calls Rye, NY home.

Finn started his Keewaydin Career in Annwi in 2013 and continued through Wilderness. He attends Vermont State University with a major in Professional Pilot Technology. Finn grew up in Vermont.

Frisco returns to camp after having been a camper from Annwi thru Moos. He will be attending Rice University in the fall, where he will major in journalism. He is excited to be in Wiantinaug where he will teach tennis, canoeing, soccer, kayaking, basketball and more! Frisco calls Los Angeles, CA home.

Gabe Mirman

1st, Waramaug

Gabe returns to camp as staff after a camper career that led him from Annwi through the Wilderness Trip. After a gap year that saw him exploring remote regions of the Polynesin Islands, he has settled down as a student at Duke University, where he just completed his sophomore year, studying environmental finance. In Waramaug he will assist in canoeing, sailing, tennis, disc golf and more. Gabe calls Sarasota, Florida home.

Gael Juarez Perez

2nd, Kitchen

Gael is studying education at the Autonomous University of Puebla in Puebla, Mexico. He is preparing for a career as a teacher or a translator. Gael will be working in the kitchen and helping with laundry.

Gaspar Epstein

10th, Wiantinaug, Director (2nd half)

Gaspar is coming back for his 10th year on staff. Here for the full summer, he will be Wiantinaug Director second month. He has been a Spanish and History teacher and coached both the boys’ varsity soccer and girls’ varsity squash teams in New York City. An avid backpacker, he has recently hiked the Continental Divide. At camp, he will help with soccer and hiking.

Gavin Crowell

3rd, Wiantinaug (2nd half)

Gavin is a graduate of Haverford College. He was a camper through Wilderness. In Wiantinaug he will help with ultimate frisbee, hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, and soccer. Gavin calls Chevy Chase, MD home.

George is the Director of Food Services at Keewaydin, assuming that position in 2025 when Keewaydin decided to operate food services in house. In addition to bringing great leadership and high quality food service, George is a friend to all and loves the camp life!

Giulio graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in political science. A former captain of both his high school soccer and tennis teams, he will assist in both of those activities, in addition to fishing, baseball, swimming and archery. Giulio calls Scottsville, VA home.

Graham recently completed his first year at Elon University in North Carolina. He is happy to be on the Moos staff where he will help with canoeing, soccer, basketball, campcraft and dramatics. Graham is from Corte Madera, CA.

Greg is a graduate of the University of Buffalo. He returns to staff, having been a camper through the Wilderness Trip. A creative person who once headed a group in college that constructed a miniature windmill, he is thrilled to join the Wiantinaug staff where he will help with kayaking, canoeing, hiking, climbing and more! Greg is a proud resident of Buffalo, NY.

Hunter Wiles

7th, Waramaug

Hunter began his Keewaydin career in Annwi and continued through Wiantinaug. He will help with dramatics, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, soccer and more in Waramaug. He is a graduate of Ithaca College where he majored in sociology. During the off season, Hunter works at the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory, as a middle school track coach, and as a timer for the many track meets during the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Ian Bayliss

2nd, Wiantinaug

Ian graduated from Cornell as an Archaeology and Near Eastern Studies major in 2026. While at college, he has volunteered as an EMT and firefighter. A former camper who went through Moosalamoo, he grew up in Weybridge, VT

Isel Noyola Garcia

8th, Annwi

After a hiatus of seven years, Isel returns to the staff. For the past two years, he has been activities coordinator on Disney cruise ships. In Annwi, he will be the head of soccer and kayaking, and will assist in swimming, and fishing. Isel comes to us from Oaxaca, Mexico.

Jaime Romero

2nd, Waramaug

Jaime works as a mountain guide in Colombia. After hearing so much about Keewaydin from fellow Colombians, he decided he wanted in on the action! He looks forward to hiking Moosalamoo and leading backpacking trips.

Jamie was a camper from Annwi through Moos and now returns on staff! Jamie recently graduated from high school and will attend college in the fall. In Annwi, he will help with climbing, dramatics , canoeing, exploration and hiking. Jamie lives in Hong Kong.

Jared Joyner

4th, Waramaug (1st half)

Jared was a camper Annwi through Moos and graduated from St. Thomas University with a masters in Educational Leadership. In Waramaug, he will assist with basketball, baseball, canoeing, archery and more. Jared is originally from Jersey City, NJ but now comes to us from Florida with his son, Jared, who will be in Annwi this year.

Joe Carden

13th, Driver

Joe drives trips for Keewaydin and helps out in many other ways. He has done All-Trails and enjoys watching the Friday Frolics. In the off season, he drives a school bus for South Carolina schools and takes care of Rupert, Lilly, Potter and Diesel Pig, the dogs that he swears actually belong to his wife.

John Thomas

11th, Maitre D (2nd half)

John received his PhD from Syracuse University and is a semi-retired Professor Emeritus from WVU School of Medicine, Dept of Pathology, still lecturing and authoring books. He and his wife, Penny, both Vermonters, live in Morgantown, WV. John will be camp Maitre’D, being on staff for over 10 years and a camper through all 4 groves. An army veteran, he is a member of National Ski Patrol, 18 years, and a certified EMR.

Jorge Toro Jr.

10th, Wilderness

Jorge has spent six years on the Wiantinaug staff and three as a Wilderness leader. A skilled kayaker, climber and mountain biker, this summer he will once again lead the Wilderness crew. Jorge graduated from La Metropolitana in Caracas where he studied engineering. Jorge currently lives and works in Caracas, Venezuela.

Jorge Toro, father of Jorge, Gustavo and Ernesto, is back on staff this summer! Jorge was a camper from Annwi through Wilderness in the 1970s and 80s. He will help with sailing, paddleboarding, hiking, soccer, tennis and wrestling, and he loves being Carnival Head! Jorge and his family are from Caracas, Venezuela.

Katie McDermott

12th, Business Office

Katie came back to Keewaydin after trying to retire in 2024. She joins us part time to support Ann Greenamyre in the business office. Katie is an amazing cook, a gardener and a dog mom and dog grandma. In her free time she enjoys volunteering at the Paramount Theater in Rutland and doing home and garden renovations.

4th, Director of Facilities

Ken spent 22 years in the Marine Corps. When he retired from the Corps, he became the Facilities Manager at Camp Killoleet in Hancock, VT, where he worked for 10 years. He moved over the mountain to be Director of Facilities at Keewaydin. Ken and his family live in Middlebury, VT.

Kenneth Woodard

28th, Wiantinaug (2nd half)

Ken is a high school history teacher extraordinaire at the Stone Ridge School in Washington, D.C. A famed hiker of the trails of Moosalamoo, he is camp head of hiking. Ken and his family live in Kensington, MD. When not wearing out hiking shoes, he’s an avid reader and podcaster. He produces “Lunch Duty Podcast,” a series about teaching by teachers.

Larry Hayes

34th, Head of Target Sports

Larry and his wife, Marianne, live in Chambersburg, PA. Retired after a 30+ year career in environmental education, Larry is camp head of riflery and archery. He is also a professional storyteller!

Lauren Sack

19th, Office, Arts and Crafts, Tutoring, Stage Manager

Lauren will help in the office and in a variety of other areas. Lauren, a native of Salisbury, VT, teaches math in the Boston area. 

Laurie Hare

51st, Head of Arts and Crafts

For many years, Laurie has made A&C one of the most popular activities at camp. Her talents go far beyond the confines of the arts and crafts building, however, as she helps out in many other ways, big and small. In the off-season she resides in Vashon, WA, where she is an occupational therapist.

Leo returns to Keewaydin after a camper career that included Moos and Verendrye. Leo will work in Waramaug where he will share his talents in sailing, tennis, basketball, and canoeing. A recent graduate of high school, he will attend Middlebury College in the fall. Leo hails from Los Angeles, California.

Liam returns to staff after a camper career from Annwi through Wilderness. In Moos he will help with various activities, including canoeing, soccer, football, campcraft and dramatics. Liam just completed his first year at Texas A&M. Austin, Texas is home for Liam.

Logan Dracos

3rd, Moosalamoo (1st half)

Logan finished his degree at Duke University this spring majoring in Computer Science. At Keewaydin, he was a camper through Moos. He returns to Moos as staff for his third summer and looks forward to helping with soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis and more. Logan is a native of New York City.

Luis studies fine arts at the University of Puebla in Mexico. He joins the Waramaug staff where he will share his skills in archery, arts and crafts, hiking and riflery. Luis resides in Puebla, Mexico.

Luke Sullivan

3rd, Moosalamoo

Luke went through the ranks at Keewaydin, including going on Wilderness. He just finished his junior year at Rice University where he studies math and statistics. A former captain of his high school sailing team, he will help campers learn to sail, as well as help out with windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, riflery and more. Luke is from Rye, NY.

7th, Wilderness Staff

Luke was a Keewaydin camper from Annwi up through two wilderness trips. After that, he spent three summers on the Wiantinaug staff before returning to the wilderness program. This will be his sixth wilderness trip. In the off season, he teaches high-school English.

Luke returns to Keewaydin after a camper career that took him through Moos and Verendrye. He is looking forward to a career in the game and entertainment industry. In Waramaug, he will help with arts and crafts, canoeing, climbing and archery.

Malen Riordan

4th, Wiantinaug (2nd half)

Malen is a graduate of the University of Vermont. In Wiantinaug he will assist in basketball, hiking, tennis, baseball and kayaking. Malen hails from Foster, RI.

Manuel Bertoni Lara

3rd, Waramaug

Manu teaches physical education and teaches soccer in Santiago, Chile, where he was born and raised. A multi-talented athlete, he is thrilled to return to the Keewaydin staff and will work in Waramaug, where he will help with soccer, basketball, tennis and volleyball. He also plays the guitar!

Marianne Hayes

33rd, Dispensary Driver

Marianne and her husband Larry live in Chambersburg, PA. She retired after many years of being an elementary school art teacher. She has worn many hats at camp.

Mary-Kara Comeau

8th, Office

Mimi is the wife of Pete Cahn and helps out in the office. She has also been seen helping Pete move wangans and getting the Wangan Room set up. In addition to working at camp in the summer, her full-time job is at the University of Vermont Medical Center as a Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Neonatal Therapist.

Maseo McDaniels

2nd, Waramaug

Maseo attends Temple University in Philadelphia. In addition to his academics, Maseo was a leader on his high school’s track team. As a camper, he started in Waramaug and continued through Wiantinaug. This summer, he will help with hiking, basketball, soccer and more.

Matt Trunsky

6th, Moosalamoo

Matt graduated from the University of Iowa, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. A former high school sailing team captain, in Moosalamoo he will help with sailing, kayaking, fishing, canoeing and archery. Matt comes from Wilmette, Illinois.

Mig Oppenheimer

19th, Waramaug

Mig and his wife, Elise, live in Fairfax, VA. He is a retired technology education teacher from Bull Run Middle School. Camp Head of Dramatics, he will also help with riflery, canoeing, archery, and juggling. In his free time, Mig enjoys disc golf, scuba diving, and woodworking.

Mike Thornton

28th, Maitre D (1st half)

Mike teaches second grade in Whitehall, NY. After a long career as a Waramaug staff, Mike returns to camp after several years away to help make sure the meals run smoothly. Mike lives in Mendon, VT with his wife, Patty. His daughter, Cassidy, and son, Colby are both former campers. Don’t be surprised if you see Mike on the Waramaug ballfield umpiring baseball games again!

Milo has completed his first year at Wesleyan University. In Annwi, he will help with swimming, arts and crafts, ultimate, exploration and hiking. Milo comes from Westfield, NJ.

Nathan Shemwell

4th, Wiantinaug (1st half)

Nathan is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and was a camper through Wilderness (he loved his wilderness trip so much, he did it twice)! His favorite Wiantinaug evening activity is Capture the Flag (Stones). In Wiantinaug, he will help with soccer, baseball, canoeing, ultimate, archery, kayaking, hiking, fishing and sailing. He currently teaches high school math in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Niall Butchart

A graduate of Earlham College in Indiana, and a staple of the Keewaydin Environmental Education staff, Niall looks forward to helping out with soccer, hiking, basketball, climbing and swimming in Wiantinaug. Niall hails from Needham, MA.

Nicolas Murillo Chamorro

2nd, Moosalamoo

Nico learned of Keewaydin through his sister, Nicole, who worked at Songa. He is currently studying computer science in his home country of Colombia. Nico has previously worked at a scout camp in Colombia. In Moos he will help with hiking, ultimate frisbee, swimming and archery.

2nd, Wiantinaug

Noah recently completed his first year at NYU. A former camper from Annwi through Moos, he is greatly looking forward to playing a lead role in dramatics and swimming, as well as help with canoeing and other activities. In his free time, he runs his own tech installation business, “Mack Tech.”

Olin recently completed his sophomore year at the University of Utah where he studies marketing. He joins the Wiantinaug staff where he will share his talents in hiking, swimming, tennis and archery. Olin comes from Bend, Oregon.

Owen finished his first year at Hamilton College, where he is majoring in history and economics. A former camper through Wilderness, he is excited to assist in canoeing, hiking, campcraft, and dramatics in Moos. Owen hails from Easton CT.

Owen Gutfreund

44th, Moosalamoo Director and Associate Director of Dunmore

Owen is a professor specializing in urban policy and planning at Hunter College in New York City. Owen and his wife, Victoria, have two children, Charlotte and Willa, who spent many summers at Songa as campers and staff. The Gutfreunds live in Chappaqua, NY.

Owen is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University. He started in Waramaug and continued through Wilderness. In Moosalamoo, he will help with sailing, canoeing, archery, dramatics and more. Owen comes from New York City.

Patrick Crowell

3rd, Moosalamoo

Patrick completed his senior year at Santa Clara University in CA this spring, where he majored in general engineering. He was a camper through Wilderness. A former captain of his high school ultimate frisbee team, he looks forward to helping out with that activity, as well as with kayaking, diving, swimming, and most sports in Moosalamoo. Patrick comes from Chevy Chase, MD.

Peter Cahn

14th, Head of Wangan Room

Pete was a camper in the early 1980s, including Wilderness. He then went on to work on the Waramaug staff for three summers. Pete lives in Hinesburg, VT. An outdoor enthusiast, Pete is excited to oversee the Wangan Room operations again this summer.

Peter Hare

48th, Camp Director

Pete became Camp Director in 2001 after many years on staff, including 11 as Wiantinaug Director. He is also the Executive Director of the Keewaydin Foundation. A history and Spanish teacher for 20 years, he lives in Middlebury, VT. In the off-season he enjoys playing basketball, mountain biking, and hiking the trails of Moosalamoo with his trusty dog, Archie. This will be Pete’s 26th, and final, summer as Dunmore Director. In September he will step down as Dunmore Director, but will remain as Executive Director of the Keewaydin Foundation through 2028. Pete is thrilled that Cameron MacDonald will take over for him as the Dunmore Director in September, 2026!

Peter Lindholm

14th, Waramaug Director (2nd half)

Peter graduated from Middlebury College in 2018 with a degree in English. He is entering his 13th summer at Keewaydin. In the offseason, he works as a behavioral interventionist in the Winooski School District, and is a student in the Masters in Social Work program at UVM. Moving from Annwi to Waramaug, this will be Peter’ first year as a Grove Director. Peter lives in Burlington, VT.

Peter Wright

19th, Wiantinaug, Tutoring, Store (1st half)

Peter is a high school mathematics teacher at Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY. He is excited to return with his wife, Mandy (who will work at Songa), and children, Ellis, age seven, who will be a day camper in Annwi, and Amelia, age five, who will be in the Saplings program. Peter was a camper through Wilderness and has worked in WI, MO, and the Wilderness program. Peter was a member of Expedition 2012.

Quinn Bausch

3rd, Wiantinaug

Quinn just completed his senior year at Grinnell College in Iowa. In Wiantinaug, he will assist with canoeing, kayaking, sailing and rock climbing. Quinn hails from Washington, D.C.

Rafi Shalabi

3rd, Annwi

A rising junior at Florida Institute of Technology, Rafi returns for his third year on staff. He rejoins the Annwi staff where he will assist with kayaking, climbing, wrestling, canoeing and more. Rafi comes from North Truro, MA.

Rebecca Patch

39th, Tutor

Becky is a retired elementary school teacher in Asheville, NC. She is a grandmother to a future Keewaydin camper. At camp, she will assist with tutoring. She is looking forward to being back at camp and hiking on Mt. Moosalamoo!

Red Dows

32nd, Waramaug

Red was a mainstay on the staff in the 1970s and 80s in Annwi, Waramaug and Wiantinaug. For the past sixteen summers, he has been camp head of exploration. In the off-season, Red resides in Panton, VT. He is a collector of Vermont books and artifacts. Red also sells vintage flannel, wool and outdoor apparel.

Reed McKnight

2nd, Wiantinaug

Reed was a camper through Wilderness. He just finished his second year at Oberlin College. He loves to play the piano, ping-pong and chess, though never simultaneously. He looks forward to doing these activities at camp, as well as canoeing and tripping. Reed was born and raised in Philadelphia.

Reshan Richards

3rd, Waramaug (2nd half)

Reshan returns to staff during the second month after 21 years. He has a B.A. from Columbia University, M.Ed. from Harvard University, and a doctorate from Columbia University where he continues to teach classes on leadership, education, and technology at both Teachers College and the School of Professional Studies. He also has many side projects ranging from software development to writing books to recording music to treasure hunting! Around camp, Reshan especially likes playing music and basketball. Two of his favorite things about trips are menu-planning and cooking with the trippers.

Rick Hopkins

17th, Waramaug, (2nd half)

Rick is a retired physical education teacher and coach from Buffalo, NY. Before his teaching career he was an ice hockey and lacrosse player/coach in Perth, Western Australia. He was also a television sportscaster in LaCrosse, WI and Watertown, NY prior to teaching.

River Steinbach

3rd, Moosalamoo

River was a camper through the Wilderness trip. He is a graduate of Pitzer College with a combined degree in media studies and organizational studies. On the Moosalamoo staff he will assist in dramatics, canoeing, volleyball, and more. River calls Long Island City, NY home.

Robin Dakin

10th, Driver

Robin first joined the staff in 1985! He later returned with his family and worked in Annwi and Moos from 2007-2013. He returns now as one of camp’s lead trip drivers. He is joined at camp by his wife, Amy. Robin is a retired art teacher from Dayton, Ohio.

Roman Shramko

2nd, Wiantinaug

Roman was a staff in Wiantinaug in the early 2000’s and returns to camp after over 20 years. He is joined by his son Mischa who will be a camper in Moosalamoo. Roman has a Masters in Linguistics from Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and comes to us from Helsinki.

Ron Cannell

31st, Wiantinaug (2nd half)

Ron has been on staff in Wiantinaug, Moosalamoo and on Wilderness. He also directed the Trip School for several years. In the off season, Ron is an engineering consultant, runs adventure trips and a nature reserve where he is developing ecotourism in Colombia. He will assist with kayaking in Wiantinaug.

Sam Brakeley

13th, Wilderness Director

Sam was on the Moos staff for two summers and has since led nine Wilderness trips and then became the Director of the Wilderness Program. He is a graduate of Colby College where he majored in environmental studies. He is the founder and owner of Hermit Woods Trailbuilders, LLC, author of several travel books, and also makes maple syrup in the winters.

Sandra Gibson

2nd, Head Nurse

Sandra will be Head Nurse at Keewaydin this summer. Her husband, Hans, was a camper and staff for many summers in the 1970s and 80s, and her children, Matt and Angie, were campers at Keewaydin and Songa respectively. In addition, Matt was a beloved Waramaug staff for several summers. Now it’s Sandra’s turn to enjoy camp! A registered nurse for ten years, this will be her second summer as part of the Keewaydin nursing team. Sandra comes from Westport, CT. This fall she will be starting a Masters program.

Santiago Zuluaga

9th, Wiantinaug Assitant Director

An accomplished rock climber, Santiago teaches at a climbing gym in Colombia. He will be Camp Head of Rock Climbing and Assistant Director in Wiantinaug this summer. He is an experienced tripper and will also help with sailing, hiking, lifeguarding and riflery. Santiago comes from Armenia, Colombia.

Sebastian Perez

5th, Annwi Assistant Director

Seb is a professional mountain guide for Paramo Trek in Colombia. In Annwi he will help with exploration, rock climbing, hiking, and sailing. He is also a gifted artist whose work can be seen on many coup boards in Annwi. Seb comes from Armenia, Colombia.

Sergio Acosta Obando

6th, Wiantinaug

Sergio, a secondary school administrator, comes to Keewaydin from Colombia. He has lived in Argentina and Denmark and travelled widely in the US. He comes with studies in Sustainable Heritage Management and Global Affairs too.

At camp he will help with outdoor cooking, canoeing, nature and hiking. He discovered Keewaydin through his neighborhood friend, Santiago Zuluaga.

Stephanie Sack

35th, Head of Waterfront

Stephanie lives in Washington, D.C. where she teaches elementary school art at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School. She has been a loyal staff member, serving first as the camp babysitter and then becoming the Head of the Waterfront.

Steve Patch

47th, Caretaker of Mt. Moosalamoo and Paddling Specialist

Steve will manage the trails on Mt. Moosalamoo, as well as teach canoeing and whitewater paddling. In the off-season, he is a retired math professor from UNC Asheville. He will be joined at camp by his wife, Becky.

Tamir is thrilled to be joining the Keewaydin staff. A student at Pennco University in Bristol, PA, Tamir is from Philadelphia. He will work in Annwi where he will help with basketball, tennis, baseball and hiking.

Tao, a former camper in Wiantinaug and Moosalamoo, recently completed his first year at Morehouse State. He looks forward to joining the Moos staff, where he will help lead basketball, soccer, canoeing, swimming, tennis and more. Tao comes from Valley Stream, NY.

A camper through Wilderness, Theo is a freshman at UCLA. He is a passionate baseball player and looks forward to helping campers hone their skills. He will also help with dramatics, canoeing and more. Theo comes from Cambridge, MA.

Originally from Michigan and a graduate of Hope College and Tufts University, Tim is currently a seventh and eighth-grade science teacher at Marin Country Day School, north of San Francisco. He will be joined at camp by his wife, Jen, their son, Townes (14 years old), and their dog Bailey.

27th, Head of Tripping and KEEC

Tim works full time at Keewaydin as the Director of the Keewaydin Environmental Education Center (KEEC). During the summer, he is Head of Tripping. A graduate of Prescott College, he has a wealth of knowledge of environmental education. Tim and his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Tallulah, live in Sudbury, VT. Once again, Tallulah will be a camper at Songdeewin this summer.

Tucker Haun

A camper Annwi through Wilderness, Tucker can’t wait to be back at camp. He just completed his sophomore year at UVM where he plans to major in environmental studies. A talented athlete, he looks forward to helping out in soccer, basketball, canoeing, kayaking, and climbing. Tucker comes from Brooklyn, NY.

Roni will be helping primarily in Arts and Crafts and the Store. Her son, Silas, will be in Moosalamoo and her husband, Matt, will visit throughout the summer. Her daughter, Addie, is a former camper at Songa. Roni and her family live in Andover, MA, where she teaches 1st grade at West Elementary School.

A talented artist and designer, Victoria helps in a myriad of ways at camp, such as planning new buildings, organizing the banquet, and lending a hand wherever needed!

Will is a graduate of Tufts University, a camper through the Wilderness Trip. In Waramaug, he will help with canoeing, archery, riflery, sailing and more. Will hails from Bronx, NY.

Will returns to Moosalamoo this summer, where he will help with a plethora of activities. He is most excited to be back in the woods on trips. New this year, Will will be Assistant Head of Tripping. Will was born and raised in Maine.

Bill just finished his seventh-year teaching history at Lakeside School in Seattle, WA. A camper at Keewaydin through Wilderness, he grew up in York, PA and graduated from Middlebury College. A member of the Expedition 2012 crew, Bill will be the Wiantinaug Director 1st half this summer.
