All nominations will be reviewed by the Governance and Nominating Committee, which is responsible for maintaining an optimal-sized Board whose members are committed to and supportive of the Keewaydin Foundation’s mission, vision, and administration. The Governance and Nominating Committee is responsible for assessing current and anticipated Board composition and endeavors to balance the Board in terms of affiliation with Keewaydin Dunmore, Songadeewin, and Temagami as well as skill set, gender, age, diversity, geographic base, and financial capacity. Most of all, the Committee is looking for individuals with a deep and abiding connection and affiliation with Keewaydin who are willing to fully commit to the responsibilities of Board membership.
Individuals may be contacted by a member of the Governance and Nominating Committee or management to inform them of they have been identified as potential Board candidate, get a sense of their interest, and answer any questions they might have. If the Committee determines that a nominated candidate meets the qualifications for a Trustee and would be a positive addition to the Board based on the factors listed above, the candidate will be added to the ongoing Trustee “pipeline” for consideration as a potential Trustee in the near-term or long-term.
Candidates should know that the Trustees meet in person three times a year, and once via Zoom. Trustees are expected to cover their own travel expenses and to make Keewaydin one of their top philanthropic priorities.
